Intex Pool Pumps

I am in New York. I am a initial time pool owner & clueless. I use household chemicals for my pool such as Borax for PH up, Baking Soda for Alk up and generic 5.25% Bleach with no scent/ additives as chlorine. I use test strips which have squares on them. I test my water, then add what it says my water is lacking & try to match the colored square to the color it belongs. I re-test later, and add what is lacking again. My pool is only 12′ x 36” round. It is a metal frame Intex pool. The filter pump it came with barely moved the water so I purchased a Hayward 1/2 HP (with paper filter) pump system. The water does move now. LOL! My problem: I dont know how to gauge what my pool needs daily. In other words, I would love to how much chemical to add automatically every day without it having to become a job. I find myself just pouring stuff in without a clue of the amount I am using. I also have a bottle of Algaeside (spell?) that I a friend gave me. Help is GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanx
